Part Time - Teaching Artist

Employment Status: Part-Time

Reports to: Teaching Artist Manager

Specifically, CircEsteem promotes the development of self-esteem, personal success and empowerment by (i) promoting the practice of circus arts; (ii) uniting youth from diverse backgrounds; (iii) providing skills training; and (iv) providing children from low-income and economically challenged backgrounds with the financial safety net they will need as they seek higher education.

Position Summary:
Part Time Teaching Artists teach circus arts to school age youth. Assignments range from 5 hrs/week up to 20-30 hrs/week depending on program needs. Programs are mostly after school hours (2-7pm) with some opportunities during the school day during short assignments. Most assignments are team taught, and TA’s will be collaborating with teammates to create circus experiences and bring positive creative energy to all teaching assignments.‍

Eligible Program(s): Afterschool Activities, Residencies, Birthday Parties

Duties Include:
• Develop/adjust circus lesson plans for assigned program
• Teach students in various circus disciplines at partner school/organization/birthday party
• Attend all program sessions accepted in the agreed upon offer letter
• Ensure successful program implementation including relationship building with the program partner


Experience:
• Ability to teach a variety of circus skills to wide age-range of youth
• Ability to actively communicate with CE management and leadership
• We can train you to expand your circus skill set as a Teaching Artist

Compensation:
Coaching rate commensurate with experience teaching a variety of circus skills

Homework & Circus Work

Our free after-school tutoring program is in need of volunteer tutors to help students from 2nd – 10th grade, as they work on their homework or other academic enrichment activities. This program meets on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

(No end date for apps/rolling consideration)

Performances

Performances at CircEsteem happen twice a year (Winter and Spring) and are always in need of help with Costumes, Sets, Lights and Sound. Support our young performers and add some razzle dazzle.

Anytime is great to help document the kids in action. We have programming 4 days per week as well as two performances each year.
